About Me

My photo
Anna Robson Gartell
Over many years, I have produced an eclectic range of art from botanical paintings, abstract work, representational paintings based on psychology and psychoanalytical theories, through to large installations combining sculpture and painting. My current practice combines materials to create textural paintings, which again are concerned with light and colour. Colour combinations are drawn from moments witnessed in a landscape or seascape. The main concerns in my sculptural work are light, colour, the reflections of colour, surface and tactile form. Aided by the transient ephemeral nature of light it explores evanescence, time and the phenomenology of colour. Tangible, tactile forms and surfaces draw attention to the intangibility of light and reflected colour. Using the language and materials of sculpture and painting it aims to create a discourse between the two practices. I wish to engage the viewer through their experience of light and colour.
